MIM Solutions is a company originated in University of Warsaw (UW) Algorithms Group, directed by prof. Piotr Sankowski. The company gathered experts interested in solving practical algorithmic problems efficiently, which finally evolved towards machine learning. Although the MIM Solutions is a company which is not a part of UW, these two entities are still in tight cooperation.

MIM Solutions automatically categorizes the advertisements for Gemius S.A. Our machine learning tool analyzes pictures, text and metadata of the advertisement to assign the brand and category of the advertised product. This massive multi-class classification consists of tens of thousands of possible brands and categories. It is a great machine learning challenge which requires to use the whole spectrum of techniques from NLP to image processing. We have presented our solution during PyData Warsaw 2018 conference.
Recently, we have prepared the behavioral segmentation of users for Showroom.pl and Showroom.de. The segmentation delivered by our algorithms was easily recognized by Showroom marketing team, i.e., the segments correspond to well-named client groups. Next, we combined the segmentation with our recommendation service. This allowed Showroom to personalize all marketing actions starting from newsletters and ending with social media campaigns.
MIM Solutions developed cutting-edge user behaviour model that after 3 days of integration increased turnover by 14.2% (keeping the same gross margin percentage and decreased the required amount of resources needed.
